MotoGP: El motivo por el cual se cancelo el GP de Argentina en Termas de Rio Hondo
La Federación Internacional de Motociclismo (FIM) y Dorna, el promotor del Mundial de MotoGP, confirmaron la cancelación del Gran Premio de Argentina 2024 en Termas de Río Hondo, Santiago del Estero, programado para el 5, 6 y 7 de abril. Un durísimo golpe para los amantes de las motos y del automovilismo en general.
En el comunicado oficial la FIM confirma la cancelación debido a “las circunstancias actuales en Argentina”. El lugar de Argentina en el campeonato no será reemplazado en el calendario de 2024. Sin embargo, MotoGP espera volver a competir en Termas de Río Hondo en 2025. Toca esperar un año más.

¿El cambio de gobierno fue el detonante de la cancelación?
Orly Terranova, titular de la empresa OSD, que es la organizadora del evento, culpó al Gobierno Nacional de Javier Milei acusando de negarse a aportar dinero para que la competencia pudiera llevarse a cabo.
En una entrevista con el diario El Liberal, el empresario fue contundente con sus declaraciones. “Nosotros, junto con la Provincia, hemos hecho lo imposible para intentar que el gobierno nacional nos atienda, responda y de algún tipo de señal del cumplimiento del contrato. No se logró ningún tipo de respuestas. Hoy, después de 60 días de asumir, nombraron a Scioli (como secretario de Turismo, Ambiente y Deporte) y en medio de eso se hace imposible realizar el evento. Nosotros con la Provincia hemos pagado. El circuito está listo y creo que ahora lo están pintando”.
Las entradas para el evento se encontraban disponibles desde Noviembre del 2023. Aquellas personas que hayan adquirido los tickets tendrán dos opciones: la primera será solicitar la devolución del valor del ticket, y la segunda, conservarlo porque será “válido para la edición 2025 del MotoGP en Argentina”.
El contrato firmado en el año 2021 entre el Ministerio de Deportes y Turismo de la Nación a través del Instituto Nacional de Promoción Turística y el Gobierno de la Provincia de Santiago del Estero, en conjunto con Grupo OSD como promotor local, y la FIM asegura la realización del Gran Premio en Argentina hasta 2025. Pero Terranova en sus declaraciones aclara que “la fecha de la realización de la edición del próximo año estará sujeta a la confirmación del pre calendario 2025 del MotoGP”.
La provincia de Santiago del Estero es sin dudas, la más afectada en esta situación, “Teníamos todo vendido y lamentablemente no tenemos coordinación de Aduana, Intercargo, Gendarmería, ni el aporte económico del gobierno nacional. Atento a la nula respuesta, se toma la peor decisión”, expuso Terranova.

De esta forma, Argentina no tendrá ninguna categoría mundial de automovilismo, algo que no sucedía desde 1976, y sin contar el parate de casi dos años por la pandemia del COVID-19. En 1998 Argentina pierde la Fórmula 1, que se disputaba en el Autódromo Oscar y Juan Galvez de Buenos Aires. En 2015 el World Rally Championship dejaba al país sin la competencia que se disputaba en las sierras de Córdoba, y ahora en 2024 el mazazo de no tener el MotoGP.
