Ocho consejos para manejar en días de mucho calor
Aquellos que diariamente se desplazan en sus vehículos, pueden sufrir fatiga o somnolencia a causa del calor intenso. Ante una temperatura externa elevada, el organismo trabaja sin descanso para mantener una temperatura corporal homogénea y constante para que todos los procesos corporales se lleven a cabo sin problemas.
Este esfuerzo extra es lo que nos provoca fatiga o somnolencia, por lo que hay que prestar especial atención cuando manejás, ya que necesitás estar en estado de alerta y no perder la concentración en ningún momento. Tené en cuenta los siguientes consejos.
Hidratarse: mantenerse hidratado es fundamental para reducir la fatiga, somnolencia y deshidratación. Además, repercute directamente en el rendimiento al volante. Lo ideal es contar con una botella de agua fresca en el vehículo y beber frecuentemente.
Usar ropa clara y ligera: la comodidad es fundamental. Usá ropa holgada y evitá la ajustada que impida la correcta circulación o de sensación de estar “arropados”. También es preferible usar colores claros que no absorban la luz y el calor.
Revisar la temperatura del ambiente: ésta también influye en la comodidad durante la conducción. Regulala a unos 20 grados y 24 grados para evitar cambios bruscos que pueden provocar enfriamientos o irritaciones de las mucosas. Orientá la salida de aire acondicionado para que no te dé directamente en la cara o en el pecho.
Usar anteojos de sol: al manejar con el sol de frente se pierde la visual de lo que tenés de frente, lo cual te hace más sensible a sufrir un accidente. Para mitigar estos riesgos podés usar anteojos de sol, que te protege de los rayos UV y evita los reflejos del pavimento y el de los otros autos. Los lentes polarizados y de color gris son los más recomendados para manejar.
Planificar el viaje según la temperatura: de ser posible, evitar manejar las horas de más calor. Es conveniente aprovechar las horas de la mañana (antes de las 10 horas), y de la tarde-noche (después de las 19 horas).
Usar el parasol: siempre es preferible estacionar a la sombra, pero en caso que no tengas esa posibilidad, usá el parasol. La exposición al sol incrementa la temperatura dentro del habitáculo, provocando el deterioro de los plásticos y el sobre esfuerzo del aire acondicionado. Un auto expuesto a una temperatura exterior de 25ºC y a unos niveles de radiación elevados durante un tiempo de 60 minutos, puede hacer que en el interior se registre una temperatura de 43°C y de hasta 77°C en el parabrisas.
Ventilar el habitáculo: si el vehículo estuvo expuesto al sol, antes de prender el aire acondicionado se recomienda ventilar el habitáculo con las ventanillas bajas. Así, el aire acondicionado no hará un sobre esfuerzo y el interior se enfriará más rápido.
Descansar con más frecuencia: en viajes con mayor duración a dos horas, lo ideal es hacer paradas frecuentes para tomar aire fresco y estirar las piernas. Se recomienda descansar cada dos horas o cada 100 kilómetros. El no sentirse agotado no implica que a tu cerebro le ocurra lo mismo. La fatiga es un efecto inevitable de la conducción y que se potencia con el calor.
